Bid System
"Placing your bids"

You have your flight log ready to go, and your simulator is cranked up. Just one problem...no one has given you a route to fly yet. Each CA Hub handles the bid system a little differently. It is of major importance that you check your Hub Ops Manual or with your Hub Captain to see how it's done where you fly.
In brief, the bid system collects the flight requests from all the pilots of a certain Hub and sends them to the HC. The HC then reviews the requests and assigns the flights. Again, check with your HC for their policy on this. Your HC will post the results for review either on the Hub roster or by email. Make sure you know where to look for your assignments.

To place your bid, you can go to your Hub webpage and select "Submit Bid" for the menu options. From your hub page you can find the Flight Schedule which you will need to have to place a bid. On the flight schedule you will find "tail numbers" and "bid lines". Tail numbers encompass an entire route. Bid lines cover a few flights (usually half) of a route. Choose which flight you want and head to the ***Bid area (*** can be JFK, SFO, ORD, DFW, EGLL, or EDDM. Pick the one for your hub). Now, if you want to fly a "tail number" enter the number and an alternate choice in the tail number section of the bid form. If you want to do a "bid line" enter your line number and an alternate choice in the bid line section of the bid form. I would suggest that you choose either a tail number or a bid line. When both are entered on a form it tends to confuse the Hub Captains. Once again, refer to your individual Hub policy for submission of bids.

That's it. Now you just sit back and wait for your HC to post the results.
